Composer instead of Architect and Software Developer

Composer instead of Architect and Software Developer

March 13, 2026

As a freelancer over the past few months, I have had to learn that the software developer is a dying breed — and that one must let go of the illusion of continuing to work as a software developer.

As an architect and software developer, I have become a software composer. I no longer write code; it has essentially become a waste of time. I compose and create new software by diving deep into the conceptual layer, staying there, and calmly examining the models from every angle. The final step — the implementation — I leave to the intelligent tools.

My experience as an architect and software developer enables me to develop concepts and ideas that can be translated into concrete instructions for intelligent tools, and that is the new dimension opening up before us.

Historically, refusing to embrace change has always been a bad idea. Even when it sometimes seems difficult to grasp and understand the whole picture, one has to discover a new perspective within what is unfolding.

The status quo can no longer be maintained.

The intellectual entourage of the software developer — understanding before doing — has therefore not lost its validity.
